Present Channel Island & Guernsey record holder for Garfish with a fish of 2lb.11.11

I have been fishing since I was eight years old and even after all this time there is still a feeling of excitement every time I load the tackle into the car and head out for a days fishing.

That feeling of excitement when you get to your chosen mark and cast the bait into the unknown never diminishes, whatever age you are.

During my fishing career I have caught Conger of 37lb, Wrasse up to 7lb 8oz, Garfish over 2lb, Mullet of 7lb 12oz, Cod of 32lb, Turbot of 21lb and Plaice up to 5lb 8oz.

At this present time I hold the Guernsey and Channel island Garfish shore record with a fish of 2lb 11oz 11drm, which was great fun catching on Mullet gear. I also held the British and Channel Island Couches’ Sea Bream record in 1997 with a fish of 3lb 0oz 3drm.

Your very happy Guide with a fly caught Thicked Lipped Mullet of 4lb..13oz.

This fish gave me one of the most exciting fights on rod and line I have ever experianced.

I have lived on Guernsey all my life and this has given me the opportunity to fish many different marks around the Island,  giving me the experience to know what’s likely to be there and, more importantly, when.

I have also fished the island of Herm a great deal which has a regular ferry service from Guernsey.

Herm is a unique fishing experience as well as being  a truly beautiful place.

The thing that keeps me so enthusiastic about my sport is not so much what you catch it’s what might grab your bait next time, it could be that fish of a life time.
